Come enjoy and evening of Western Swing Music. This subgenre of American Country music originated in the late 1920’s in the West and South. It is dance music, often with an up-temp beat. The music is an amalgamation of rural, cowboy, polka, folk, Dixieland jazz and blues blended with swing. A big part of early American history, Western Swing created many wonderful dance halls and became a household word. Western Swing Band Leader Hank Thompson said it was not uncommon to see ten thousand people at Western Swing Dances.
